Hey beauties! Welcome back to Creative Contour By Carla ®! As you all can tell from my social media channels and emails, I have taken a step into the public speaking world, teaching live makeup demonstrations, as recently as 2024! It's been an exciting time, for sure! I've definitely learned some things along the way, and I want to share what I've learned. This advice is applicable whether you've just started public speaking, or you've been around the block a hundred times.

Your Future, Confident Self
Call in your future self and ask them for the confidence you know you'll have. Public speaking is hard and scary, but you wouldn't be here if you weren't qualified. Remember that you are qualified to speak here!
Sometimes, it's just jitters and a little anxiety peeking through, and that's okay. We are all human and feel that way at some point.
When those jitters stop by for a visit, take a deep breath, and remind them that you know what you are doing. You're here to share your story, and the audience wants to hear what you have to say.
Preparation
Preparation is key when it comes to public speaking. Start preparing for your speaking session far in advance. I like to prepare for my speaking gig about 2 weeks in advance. I take my time and make sure that I have everything I need for a successful speaking session. I also take time to maintain my image.

What a great segue, am I right?! You want to make sure the audience is engaged with you at your most authentic. Make sure to find out and know exactly what that means for you as a speaker. When we are our most authentic, the audience is engaged. They will resonate with your most authentic self.
Also, make sure to hire a team who understands how to execute your most authentic image. From a makeup perspective: I have your back! I understand what it is like to be a speaker, and how to authentically demonstrate that role with the right makeup look.
Get Up There And Do It!
You heard me correctly! Before you know it, speaking day is here! Take a deep breath, take your time, and do this thing! If you are speaking for the first time, I know how scary it feels. That's okay, because we always end up learning something new, after every experience. Even if you've spoken multiple times! You got this!
Remember: you are qualified to be here. The audience wants to hear what you have to say. They enjoy your presence.
You can do this! I'm proud of you!
Lots of love and lipstick,
Carla
