Hey beauties! Let's talk about how we all can make the earth a little better and still enjoy great makeup: recycling our old makeup containers!!
If your product is expired, or you decide you don't like it anymore, DO NOT toss it in the trash! Follow my EASY routine to recycle all of your old makeup containers!
STEP 1: REMOVE OLD PRODUCT
Beauties, the container is the only part that can be recycled, so make sure you dump out old product residue in the container. For creams, gels, waxes, etc., make sure you scoop out the old product residue. I recommend using a popsicle stick, so it is small enough to get into each tube.
If you have liquids, you'll have to remove the little rubber buffer inside, or cut open the bottle first. Then dump out old product residue.
STEP 2: WASH WITH WARM WATER AND SOAP
Once you've removed all of the old residue, make sure you wash the container and lid with warm soap and water. I like to use a towel to really scrub well.
Let dry.
STEP 3: PACK EM UP!
I like to reuse old plastic baggies to store all my old containers until it is time to drop them off at the recycle location. You can pack them however you please, unless the recycler gives you specific instructions.
STEP 4: TIME TO RECYCLE
Alright beauties, it's time to recycle your old containers! After doing some research, I've found that most makeup containers cannot be recycled in your city's recycling program. So, I looked out for programs that recycle old makeup containers.
I found that Nordstrom and Pact Collective are both options to recycle your old makeup containers. Check them out and see which option works best for you!
