Hey beauties! Today's post is all about shopping! Shopping is one of my favorite hobbies. I've been known to hit the mall when sales pop up! Especially when makeup is involved! I bet you've done the same!
I for one know I can rack up quite a few points as Sephora or Ulta in one shopping trip. Sounds familiar doesn't it?
When you get home, you are so excited to try out your new makeup! Some of the items are absolutely perfect. The rest... not so much. In fact, it feels like you didn't even know what you bought. If I'm being honest, you probably don't love most of those makeup products.
Here's why: you listened to a recommendation from a friend who saw an influencer on YouTube or IG raving about how they love a certain concealer or eyeshadow. They love it so much because it "has a high quality," and "just glides right on!" Or maybe because "it perfectly matches my skin tone!"
While all of those points may be true for the influencer, the makeup products may not work well for you. Remember, influencers are paid to say they love certain makeup products, and the benefits are xyz. Also remember that influencers film under heavy lighting in front of professional quality cameras and probably have lots of work done. After all, it's their job to look perfect all the time.
So where does that leave you? Frustrated and disappointed because the makeup product doesn't look the same as it does on the influencer's video your friend sent you. If you had a nickel for every time this happened, you'd be rich, am I right?!

Stop listening to influencers
That's right beautiful followers, forget what influencers say. Like I mentioned earlier, they are paid to talk about the benefits about makeup products. How do you know if they are a credible source? You have no idea if they have been paid to talk about certain products.
2. Do your research
Beauties, look around everywhere. Read reviews on multiple sites. Some of the reviews on big sites like Sephora are incentivized, which means the reviewer may have been paid or given free product in exchange for a great review. There is no magical way to tell this by just blindly reading reviews. You need to install an app on your browser to track this information. But overall, make sure you really read reviews. Especially the bad ones. I always rely on bad reviews when makeup shopping, because sometimes they are a true tell of the product.
3. Hire a pro!
Pros tell it like it is. Trust me, there are times when people ask me do I like a certain brand of products, and I will tell you what I really think. And if I don't like it, I'll tell you what to get instead. Even if there is a brand or product I haven't tried, I can help narrow down what products would work best for you.
