How To Store Your Makeup Products

I have a few tips to help you store your makeup!

Hey beauties! I am BACK with another great topic! Today I am discussing how to store your makeup products! So beauties, there are a number of different ways which you can store your makeup products. Today I am going to talk about my professional recommendations. As always, remember that just because I mention (or don't mention) something, doesn't mean it's the end-all be-all. The tips I will discuss today are based on my experience as a makeup artist, and the methods that I have found that work best. With that being said, let's jump in!

So my beautiful followers, how should you store your makeup products?!

Consider the room's temperature

Regardless of where you decide to house your makeup collection, you need to be aware of the fact that the room's temperature is very important. It will either help or spoil your products.

So here's my take on room temperature: you generally want to store your makeup in a room that is between 50-65 degrees Fahrenheit. I've found that this is an ideal temperature range because it's not too hot to melt and spoil the makeup, and it's not too cold to ultimately freeze the makeup. When it's too hot or cold, your makeup will spoil and separate. Now of course, this mainly applies to your gels, cremes, and liquids. Powders for the most part are unaffected by temperature.

Make sure you know the room temperature!

Keep your makeup products out of sunlight

Beauties, this one is sort implied, but I want to discuss it anyway. Just like a temperature that is too hot, sunlight will affect your makeup. If you leave your makeup in direct sunlight for long periods of time, your products will melt, separate, and ultimately spoil.

I recommend storing your makeup in a dark part of the room, away from direct sunlight.

Always make sure to properly close all makeup products

Beauties, again this tip may seem redundant to discuss, but it's so important! If you do not properly close all of your makeup products, air gets in. Once air gets in, products dry out and separate. I know it seems like a lot of work, but make sure that you are properly closing all of your makeup products! You'll thank me when you have a good shelf life for your entire makeup collection!

So beauties, I hope these tips are helpful! I want you to get the most life out of every makeup product, and by following these easy AF tips, you will easily store them and use your makeup products for awhile!

But by now, you're probably thinking: so where and how do I put my makeup away?

If you're anything like me, you don't want every single makeup product sitting out on your bureau or bathroom counter, because then they're just... in the way. There are quite a few great makeup storage options out there! There are really cool caddies that have drawers and cubes specially made to fit lipsticks, eyeliners, etc. Or you can keep it simple and get a medium-sized storage container and keep your makeup in the container. I personally store my makeup in a plastic container that sits on my bureau, away from direct sunlight. This works well for me because I get ready at my bureau every morning.
