Hey beauties! In today's blog, I am going to discuss how to use makeup to properly cover acne!
I know it can be really intimidating to do anything with your skin when you have breakouts. And of course when you do, your initial thought is to cover everything up as much as possible. Well my friends, in some instances, a fuller coverage works the best! Other times, it shows very cakey and unflattering. So what's a girl to do when the makeup cakes and she has to start over? I am so glad you asked!! Today I am going to help you navigate this very thing!
So beauties, I am using myself as an example, because this blog was written at the height of the covid-19 pandemic, and I physically could not use a model. No problem at all, because I am actually the perfect candidate for this very technique! Beauties, I know that it's very difficult and frustrating to apply your makeup when you have acne and are dealing with a breakout. While a good skin care routine (and possibly even medication) work best to fight acne, you are stuck waiting for them to kick in and be successful. In the meantime, let me show you how to properly apply your makeup products to cover an acne breakout!
Beauties, the key to successfully covering acne with your makeup is to apply your product directly onto the pimples themselves. So what does this mean? I like to apply my foundation to my desired coverage and let set. Then, I use a small brush to apply more product just onto the pimple and buff. The smaller the brush you use, the better the result you will achieve! Remember to take your time when doing this, so you get everything to set just right!
See, beauties! It's so easy! I personally like to keep things simple and just layer the same product over one another. But sometimes you may find you need a heavy duty coverage. If you find yourself in this type of situation, I recommend using both a foundation and concealer. This will ensure that you cover your acne well. Now understand that this technique may lead to some caking, so make sure that you apply in thin layers, allowing each layer to set in between. This is the best way to get the coverage you need without caking! I like to use setting spray or powder (depending on your desired finish), to complete my makeup look!
