My Makeup Bag: A Sneak Peek!

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

Hey beauties! Let's take a sneak peek inside of my makeup bag! I thought this would be so much fun to show you some of the products I like to use! There are so many fantastic makeup products out there, that my collection is still growing. I have a pretty large collection, so I'll try my best to keep this an easy read. I snapped some photos of the products I am currently using.

So much makeup!

Let's take a look into my makeup bag!

EYES

Mascara & Eyelash Curler

I actually have pretty long eyelashes. I curl and apply mascara with every makeup look. I like to show off my eyelashes. Rocking your natural eyelashes is back in trend for 2020!

Right now I am using 2 mascaras: Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes 5 Start Mascara and Maybelline Lash Sensational. I like to use my Charlotte Tilbury mascara when travelling because it's the perfect size. Both mascaras are fantastic and do the job well.

When I curl my eyelashes, I try to get as close to my natural lash line as possible. This clever technique makes your eye look open and you will look more awake.

**I do also have false eyelashes, but haven't worn them much this year as they are not on trend in 2020. But here's a picture of me rocking them:

Hey there!

Eyeliner

I currently have 5 eyeliners in my collection. There are different formulas. I don't have a preference when it comes to which formula: I normally base my formulas choice off of the look I am trying to achieve. Sometimes I even use eyeshadow to create the line instead.

I like to have a variety of eyeliner formulas. It gives me the opportunity to create a variety of makeup looks!

Eyeshadow

Beauties, I have worn every color eyeshadow under the sun in my lifetime. I have tried so many different brands, that I can't keep a favorite palette for very long. I have a pretty large range of eyeshadows and am replenishing them often.

Eyeshadow must be applied strategically with proper brushes. I have a few small fluffy brushes that are made for this exact task. When you apply eyeshadow, make sure you are following your bone structure and eye shape. Just because a certain eyeshadow application looks great on someone else, does not mean it flatters your eye shape. (If you need help with this, it's time for a makeup lesson!) I have practiced for a long time to get my eyeshadow application on myself and others correct. It takes a bit of analysis and practice, but you'll get it right!

COMPLEXION

Foundation & Concealer

I grouped these two products together because I often use them together. Of course I use concealer to cover any darkness on my under eye area, but I also use it on my complexion to cover any blemishes or scars. I like to apply my foundation first, let it set, then apply concealer on any spots that need extra coverage.

My current favorites: Cover FX power play foundation & concealer. I've found that this was the first brand to offer a true olive undertone in a true medium shade foundation! This is such a big deal for me. Any of you who have a medium skin tone know it's very difficult to find a true match. If you're like me and have an true olive undertone mixed in know it's nearly impossible to find the correct match.

The concealer is a thick liquid and provides a full coverage finish. Believe me beauties, a little goes a long way. I've found that the best way to maintain a long-lasting concealer is to set it with powder immediately after applying. The best way to apply concealer is in a stippling motion, as it ensures the product will give you the coverage you need and lasts longer. (That's right beauties, no smearing your concealer after reading this!)

The foundation provides a medium, buildable coverage. I like to apply liquid foundation with a brush. I prefer this method because it ensures an even coverage without looking cakey. (I have thick, textured skin, so the last thing I want is my foundation to look caked on.) I follow a tried and true method behind getting the longest wear out of this foundation. (If you want to know this method, just ask!)

Bronzer

I have 2 absolute favorite bronzers: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer, and Maybelline City Bronzer. Hoola bronzer has been my all-time favorite. I am currently using the Maybelline bronzer. I saw it in the store randomly this past summer and had to try it! So far I really love it. Both products are powder bronzers.

Bronzer should be applied strategically. While I like to use it to contour light skin tones, it is best used to create a sun-kissed look. I prefer matte bronzers because they make you look like you just came back from vacation. I apply bronzer on the areas where the sun normally hits the most: forehead, bridge of nose, cheeks, and chin. I always buff bronzer into the neck and chest as well, for a cohesive look. It is best to apply bronzer of any formula with a large fluffy brush.

Blush

I currently have 2 favorite blushes. One is a powder, the other is a gel. I loved the Maybelline cheek heat so much in my professional makeup kit, that I decided to purchase one for personal use! It really is a great product. My powder blush is an affordable option from Essence.

Normally I only wear the powder blush. However, when my skin warms up in the summer, I like to really amp up that warm look. I first apply the gel cheek, let set, them apply a dusting of the powder blush to finish. The result is absolutely gorgeous! I look like I just got back from vacation.

Highlighter

To be honest beauties, I am still learning to love highlighter. But, I know that you all love to glow on! I do have some highlighters in my personal collection. I prefer to use cream highlight because it has a clean finish, and provides the most natural glow. I apply both cream and liquid highlights with my fingers.

Lipstick & Lip Gloss

Beauties, you know I looooove both lipstick and lip gloss! I've been rocking lip gloss since the good ol days of lip smackers. (Surprise, I'm a millennial.) And of course you all know I rock a bold pink lip any day! I have a pretty large collection of lip colors, with my current favorite shown below.

As far as caring for your lips is concerned, stay tuned, that's coming soon!

Beauties, I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my makeup collection! I had so much fun taking you behind-the-scenes! I know you are always wondering what products I use and what my favorites are. Now that you know, it's time to put these products into action! Let's get around to that makeup lesson that you've been dying to do!
