Hi beauties! Today's post is for those of you who have dry skin. I know it can be a bit difficult to care for your skin. You may feel like you have no idea where to even begin! Well have no fear, beauties! I am here for you. In this blog, I will go in-depth on a few different ways to care for your skin. The results will be stunning, hydrated skin, and of course, beautiful makeup!
I know it can be difficult to find a routine that works well with your skin. It's tough to find products that truly hydrate the skin and keep it soft and supple. This routine is my secret weapon for all of my clients who have dry skin!
So let's jump right in!
Before we discuss this routine, realize that the products and routine mentioned are tried and true. These are items and steps I use in my professional makeup kit, during the Makeup Experience, or in my personal routine, so I am aware of how well they work! I want to share this information with you beauties!
Step 1: Cleanse
I recommend trying an oil-based cleanser. Oil-based cleansers remove all of the dirt, sweat, residue, and gunk out of your skin, while adding a nice boost of hydration! Oil-based cleansers are great for dry skin because they don't feel slick or heavy on your skin.
I love Sonia Roselli Beauty (SRB) Japanese Cleansing Oil to cleanse the skin. It removes any leftover makeup, sweat, dirt, and residue, while hydrating and softening your skin! Give it a good shake, rinse your face, then lather 1-2 pumps and apply to the face-neck area in circular motions. After you apply this cleanser, make sure to rinse the face with luke warm water. Use this cleanser every night before bed to reap the benefits!
You don't have to use an oil-based cleanser in your routine. If you prefer not to use an oil-based cleanser, I recommend using a gentle cleanser.
Step 2: Exfoliate
You should exfoliate your skin weekly. This will help remove any flakes and dead skin. Exfoliation is a process that helps your cells turnover new skin. When you exfoliate weekly, your skin looks soft and smooth. Again, exfoliating once per week is enough to remove any flakes or dead skin.
I use SRB Sex-A-Peel Exfoliator to remove all dead skin and flakes. This citrus-based exfoliator is fantastic because it is lightweight and removes any flakes caused by dry skin. The result is a glow from within!
I recommend exfoliating once per week. This way you can reap the benefits without hurting your skin! This product is great because it works with a large percentage of skin tones, types, sensitivities, and conditions. Of course if you have citrus allergies, I recommend trying glycolic acid or lactic acid as your weekly exfoliant.
***If you decide to use the Sex-a-peel exfoliant, please make sure you switch steps 1 & 2. Sex-a-peel should be used first. Then you should cleanse to remove the dead skin remnants.***
Step 3: Serum
You want to make sure your skin is as hydrated as possible. Serums are great because they provided extra hydration underneath your moisturizer! I love using SRB Water Elixir. This serum is a thick, yet lightweight, serum that soaks into your skin quickly. Give it a good shake. Then use 2-3 pumps for the entire face-neck area.
Use this product at night as well! I recommend 3-4 pumps at night. Make sure to massage this product in until it is almost fully absorbed. It's best to still feel some of the product on the skin before applying your facial oil.
Step 4: Facial Oil
You don't want to skip this step, beauties! Facial oils are great because they provide a thick layer of hydration. You want your facial oil to do a lot of work on your skin. Facial oil will help lock in hydration, and result in soft, supple skin.
SRB Water Oil does just that! Give it a good shake. Then use 2-4 pumps of water oil for the general face-neck area. Don't be afraid to use the full 4 pumps on your skin beauties! Your skin will soak this oil right up! You want to have all-day hydration.
I love using Water Oil at night as well! I recommend 4-5 pumps of Water Oil for the entire face-neck area. I recommend really massaging this product into the skin well. It should feel quite thick on the skin. It's best to apply a thick layer at night because your skin will absorb this product while you sleep!
Step 5: Moisturizer
Don't forget moisturizer! This is a great last step to your routine! You want to make sure your skin is soft and supple all day long! Apply your moisturizer to lock in all of the hydration for the rest of the day. I recommend SRB Water Balm moisturizer. This lightweight, yet powerful moisturizer keeps your skin soft and supple throughout the day!
This is a citrus-based moisturizer. If you are allergic to citrus-based products, I recommend trying Vichy Mineral 89 Moisturizer. This product is similar to a thick serum, but has the hydrating power of a moisturizer! I recommend 2-3 pumps for day and 3-4 pumps for night! If you decide to apply this moisturizer at night, I recommend skipping facial oil.
**And of course, if you start to see your skin getting congested, make sure to adjust certain aspects of the routine for your unique needs. I know that sometimes an immediate change can stimulate your skin. However, after some time passes, your skin should adapt and love this hydrating routine!**
So beauties, that's it! These are all of my tips and tricks on caring for dry skin. Maintain this routine on a regular basis and your skin will be hydrated and happy before you know it! Remember that these things take time. The sooner you start your new routine, the happier your skin will be! Expect this routine to take at least a month before you start seeing results!
To make sure skin is hydrated and happy: You want to know what's next! I am so glad you asked!
I will help you shop for great products to keep your skin dewy and hydrated!
