Hey beauties! Welcome back to Creative Contour by Carla™! Today, we are starting a new regular series on the Creative Contour by Carla™ blog! We are starting a #skincareseries. I will regularly discuss and review information about beneficial skincare practices and how they help your makeup look good! Today's post is about High Frequency.
So what is High Frequency? It is a gentle electrical current that helps clean your skin. The gentle electric current aids in cleaning out pores, in order to remove some of the bacteria lying underneath the skin. High frequency is normally used during a facial, but because of the pandemic and being home, everyone had to take their skincare services home! Portable High Frequency machines have been around for awhile, but really became popular during the covid 19 pandemic. Hosting facial services at home was probably a serious adjustment, but having a high frequency machine at home really helped keep the skin cleaner under masks.
So how does this relate to makeup? I am so glad you asked! As we all should know by now, beautiful skin is the perfect canvas for makeup. And while there are many things to consider in your skincare routine to make your canvas ready for makeup, high frequency helps those of us who suffer from acne.
I often use my high frequency machine all over my face. I do 1-2 passes on clean, dry skin. Then I focus on acneic areas of my face. For me, it's my jawline and cheeks. I get most of my breakouts there. My breakouts are caused by hormones, and sweat under my mask while working. So what I do is go my 1-2 passes over my entire face-neck area. Then I go to the acneic areas and and tap, tap, tap! The areas that tend to sting when I tap are areas that have bacteria, or acne forming. This is really helpful in that I can get some of the bacteria cleaned and prevent some acne breakouts. While this method isn't foolproof, it's consistent and really helps my skin. I notice a difference when I neglect my high frequency machine or forget to use it. My skin just doesn't look as good, and is not as clean.
So beauties, ultimately, High Frequency is a great additional step to add to your skincare routine, should you experience acne breakouts like me! It will help maintain beautiful skin overall in the long run. Remember that all skincare routines are a long-game. You need to be consistent and also have a lot of patience. I know it's hard to do, but in the end, it's always worth it!

Lots of love, lipstick, and gorgeous skin,
