Carla's Secret Skincare Routine: Surprise, It's Easy AF!

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

Hi beauties! This blog post is written specially for those of you who are ready to have the perfect canvas for makeup: flawless skin!

My clients often tell me that they either do not have a skincare routine or don't know any proper skincare routines! It inspired me to write this blog post.

Before I go into it, make sure you read the following: please be aware that while I am a licensed esthetician and have acquired skincare knowledge, I am NOT a practicing esthetician. I strictly stick to makeup. This means that I can only give you general recommendations.

If you are looking for specific skincare product recommendations or have very specific questions about your skincare routine, you must see a practicing esthetician and have a facial. If you have questions about skin conditions, contact a dermatologist.

***In this post, I am recommending my favorite products that have worked well for my skin and my specific skincare situation.***

Glowing skin is always in!

Okay beauties, let's get into it! So just a reminder, that this is a basic skincare routine that you can incorporate into your life-- regardless of how busy you may be!

Here are the steps:

1. Cleanse

2. Exfoliate

3. Mask

4. Moisturize

1. Cleanse

You should be cleansing the face 1-2 times per day. If you only have enough time to wash your face once during your day, make sure you are washing your face at night before bed! It is important that you do not sleep with any makeup, sweat, or dirt on your skin. (These factors contribute to breakouts and can age your skin.)

2. Exfoliate

You should exfoliate 1-2 times per week. Some folks can handle every other day (and certainly do it), but I don't recommend this option. There are two types of exfoliants: manual, and chemical. Chemical exfoliants are acids such as lactic or glycolic. Manual exfoliants are usually a grainy scrub, and can be a bit abrasive.

(Yup, it's really called Sex-A-Peel!)

This exfoliator is actually a combination of both chemical and manual formula! The result is glowing, beautiful skin with one use! A few sprays and you'll be glowing!

3. Mask

I consider masking the most fun part of a skincare routine! I recommend masking at least once per month. However, if you feel you need to, you can mask once per week.

There are so many great masks out there! I've found great masks at various price ranges! Finding the right mask depends on your skin type and skincare goals. If you are unsure of your skin type, schedule a facial with a practicing esthetician so you can receive a full skin analysis and product recommendations.

My general mask recommendation for each skin type:

Oily skin: clay mask

Dry Skin: hydrating mask

Normal Skin: anything! (depends on your skin goals)

My favorite mask is Laneige Mini Pore Waterclay Mask! It helps me maintain my skin's oil levels and keeps my pores clean! I use this mask weekly.

4. Moisturize

Now that you have done all of this fabulous skin work, you need to seal it and keep your skin soft, glowing, and youthful!

Day:

First of all, you should be putting on your moisturizer every morning when you wake up. Why? Because your moisturizer will help your skin stay soft and hydrated throughout the day.

My absolute favorite moisturizer is the Vichy Laboratories Mineral 89 Daily Skin Booster!

Moisturizers also have SPF-- some being SPF 50 for the best protection for those who desire it.

My favorite day moisturizer with SPF 50 is Coola Classic Face Organic Sunscreen.

Night:

Before bed is the best time to apply your night cream, after cleansing of course! Like masks, choosing the right night cream depends on your skin type and skin goals.

So that's it, beauties! It is that easy to have great skin for your big day (or everyday)! I strongly recommend you start your routine right away. It usually takes at least a month before you start seeing results from this skincare routine.

So start loving that skin!!

It is never too early to start caring for your skin! Cared for skin is happy skin!
